Price update
A change to our per-bag collection price
Our per-bag collection price will rise from £4.40 to £4.80. As before, this price includes VAT.
We haven’t changed this price since 2024. In an effort to stay transparent with our customers, we want to set out exactly why we’re making this change.
- Disposal costs
- Landfill Tax is charged on every tonne of general waste we dispose of. The standard rate was £103.70 per tonne in April 2024 and is now £130.75 per tonne. That’s an increase of over 26% in two years. Although all our waste is diverted from landfill, we’re afraid the tax still applies.
- Fuel
- Our vehicles run on diesel, and diesel has just hit its highest price ever. The UK average reached 199.18p a litre, up from 142.38p at the end of February this year.
- Wages
- The National Living Wage rose to £12.71 per hour from 1 April 2026, up from £11.44 in 2024. That’s an increase of more than 11%.
- Employer National Insurance
- Since April 2025, employers pay a higher rate of National Insurance (15%, up from 13.8%) on a larger share of each employee’s wages.
- Everything else
- Vehicle parts, repairs, tyres, insurance, bags and equipment have all gone up too.
The new price of £4.80 including VAT is an increase of 40p per bag, around 9%. That’s well below the rise in our disposal, fuel and wage costs over the same period.
